Directions for Use

  • How many capsules should I consume in a day? The standard suggested dose (2-0-2) is 2 tablets after breakfast, 0 tablets after lunch and 2 tablets after dinner. However, depending on the severity of the infection and age group, a patient may require a variation in the dose. For children between the age of 7 and 15 years, the dosage should be reduced to 1-0-1 after meals. If required, the capsule can be opened and dissolved in 100 mL warm water, and a little honey or sugar can be added to improve palatability.
  • Is it recommended to take the medication before or after meals? It is recommended to take it after meals.
  • What should be the minimum gap between the two doses? There should be a gap of at least 10 hours between the two doses.
  • Are there any side effects of CoActiHerb? No major side effects have been noted so far. Kindly stop the medicine and contact your physician if you are experiencing any allergic reaction.
  • How many days do I need to have this treatment for? It is recommended to follow this treatment diligently for a minimum of 30 days for optimal results. However, depending on severity of infection, age profile and other parameters, a patient may require a variation in length of course.
  • Can I take CoActiHerb with my ongoing medication? CoActiHerb is an incremental treatment, which means it will help with a faster recovery in combination with your existing treatment. Please do not stop taking your ongoing prescribed medication while taking CoActiHerb.
  • Is there a need to change my dosage if I am feeling better or worse? While for most cases, the standard prescribed dosage serves well, there may be a need to update the dosage depending on the severity of your infection, age profile and other parameters. We would advise you to reach us at coactiherb@swastiveda.com to verify the dosage.
  • Can patients above the age of 50 years consume CoActiHerb? The drug is safe to be consumed by adults up to the age of 65, however dosage advice is recommended for severely comorbid patients.
  • Are there any specific comorbid conditions wherein the drug cannot be taken? No ill effects have been reported so far with comorbid conditions such as diabetes and hypertension, provided the prescribed medications for the underlying conditions are still being consumed. CoActiHerb is safe to consume with diabetes and common hypertension drugs. Please do not stop taking your ongoing prescribed medication while taking CoActiHerb.
  • Are there contraindications for taking the drug? No contraindications have been identified so far. CoActiHerb has not been tested on pregnant and lactating women.
  • Does CoActiHerb require a prescription? CoActiHerb is available Over the Counter (OTC) and does not require a prescription.

Ingredients, Testing and Manufacturing

  • What are the ingredients in CoActiHerb? Acacia arabica, Achyranthes aspera, Adhatoda vasica, Boswellia serrata, Camelia sinensis, Plumbago zeylanica, Solanum xanthocarpum, Tinospora cordifolia, Withania somnifera, Cinnamomum zeylanicum, Curcuma longa, Elettaria cardamomum, Nigella sativa, Piper longum, Piper nigrum, Syzygium aromaticum and Zingiber officinalis.
  • What are the preservatives and other excipients added to CoActiHerb? No preservatives, fillers, moisture absorbents or any smooth flow chemical agents are added to the formulation. 33% of beta cyclodextrin is added as a binder, and is non-toxic in humans according to clinical studies.
  • Where are the ingredients sourced? The ingredients are sourced from reliable traders who have provided high quality raw materials for over 30 years, including to the Spices Board of the Government of India.
  • Is there any quality testing? Swasti Veda conducts testing at an NABL accredited lab for every batch manufactured using fingerprint profiles of the ingredients in GCMSMS, LCMSMS and HPTLC to ensure consistent quality control. The stability of key ingredients is also assessed with HPLTC. The final product is tested for the presence of heavy metals, pesticides and microbial contamination for consistency and quality, and has to fall within the limit of biologically safe.
  • Where is CoActiHerb manufactured and what are the accreditations of the facility? The drug is currently being manufactured at Wingen Healthcare, which is an established GMP certified manufacturing facility.

Drug Action

  • How does CoActiHerb work? CoActiHerb presents multiple actions through the individual and combined properties of its ingredients:
    1. Anti-inflammatory (selective cytokine inhibitors)
    2. Pro-inflammatory (selective increase in cytokine responsible for antibody initiation)
    3. Anti-viral
    4. Anti-oxidant
    5. Anti-coagulant (anti-platelet aggregation)
    6. Anti-leukotrienes
    7. Arachidonic acid inhibition
    8. COX-2-i-NOS inhibition
    The active compounds balance inflammation for better lung homeostasis. CoActiHerb is proven to be non-toxic and safe for human consumption. Each batch is tested for the presence of heavy metals and pesticides prior to packaging.
  • Do I have to avoid or add any other medicines or foods for better efficacy? CoActiHerb does not counteract any other medication. Please continue taking your prescribed course of treatment along with CoActiHerb. Consult your physician before making any changes. It is better to avoid high fructose and sugar syrups, trans-fats (artificial) like hydrogenated oils and margarine, oil fried foods, vegetable oil and seed oils, refined carbohydrates, alcohol and processed meats for the duration of the course.

  • How do I know that CoActiHerb has had an impact on me? Apart from feeling better generally with respect to ease of breathing, reduced fatigue & tiredness, your internal body parameters will move towards normalcy. The following blood parameters have been shortlisted by our experts to monitor progress:
    1. CRP
    2. D-Dimer
    3. IL-6 
    4. CBC (Total Haemogram)
    5. LFT (Liver Function Test) 
    6. KFT (Kidney Function Test) 
    7. Ferritin 
    8. Fibrinogen
    We recommend a baseline investigation be performed for these parameters at the start of the CoActiHerb course and another evaluation at the end of 30 days (i.e. completion of the entire standard course). These reports along with any queries should be emailed to coactiherb@swastiveda.com. The reports will remain confidential and will not be released or sold in any manner. The data is intended to be used only for analysis and helping the users manage dosage appropriately. We request that the basic patient details such as age, gender, date of positive test for the infection, date of first negative report, basic symptoms, date of start of the medication, and pre-existing conditions be shared in the email for a comprehensive assessment.

Approvals

  • What are the clinical studies done on CoActiHerb? 
    1. A toxicity study on CoActiHerb has been conducted by a leading testing institute of India and the formulation has been determined to be non-toxic for human consumption. 
    2. Swasti Veda tests at an NABL accredited lab for every batch manufactured using fingerprint profiles of the ingredients in GCMSMS, LCMSMS and HPTLC to ensure consistent quality control. The stability of key ingredients is also assessed with HPLTC.
    3. The final product is tested for the presence of heavy metals, pesticides and microbial contamination, and has to fall within the limit of biologically safe. 
    4. An unaffiliated open study was conducted on COVID positive patients, where a strong correlation to positive outcomes was seen. Some patients saw normalization of IL-6, D-Dimer, CRP, CBC, LFT and KFT parameters. The following studies are currently lined up and in process of execution for the drug: Phase III clinical trials, gene expression studies.
  • Has the drug undergone human trials or similar studies? The drug is intended to undergo human trials as a next step, however open studies in humans have already been conducted.
